Okay, nu skal vi heller ikke være alt for melodramatiske, men det var dog kuriøst at se The Sun i vanlig britisk tabloid-stil citere Arctic Monkeys for at sige:
English radio is terrible, and Radio 1 plays a lot of crap music. I realised that the other morning when I had the radio going. Even music I don?t usually listen to, like hip-hop, is obviously bad at the moment. There is no real hip-hop anymore.” (…) “I hate all those Pop Idol singers. And let me tell you what I can?t stand ? that f****** R?n?B cover version of Stop Me If You Think You?ve Heard This One Before“, hvilket meget ligner en ord for ord oversættelse af et interview i denne måneds GAFFA

The Sun spekulerer i at dette kan bringe abekattene i problemer med Radio 1, som ellers har bakket om om bandet: “No doubt Radio 1 bosses will be hacked off with the cheeky Monkeys for their comments about the station. But I wonder if they would be so childish as to drop the band from their playlist as a result?

Journalisten bag det utroligt kontroversielle interview er iøvrigt en vis John Fogde.

Dejligt at se, at GAFFA når så langt ud… Er John mon ansat på The Sun?

The Sun har i første omgang modtaget denne email:

Hi

I found the quotes about Radio One and Timbaland by Arctic Monkeys in the story “Arctics: Radio One play cr*p” to be very funny.

But I must say I thought they were a lot funnier when Alex and Jamie said those things to me a month ago at the Hotel Fox in Copenhagen for the cover story for this month’s issue of GAFFA.

Obviously, you’ve just taken my story and translated it without giving credit, which I find to be a quite dishonest thing to do.

I haven’t had a chance to debate this with my editor yet, but for now I’d very much appreciate it if you would add a couple of lines to the story, where you make it very clear that the comments were not made to anyone affiliated with The Sun, but that they are in fact excerpts from an article in the April issue of Danish music magazine GAFFA.

Regards,

John Fogde / GAFFA
